Does anyone here follow Toriko at all? I started looking at it since I was subscribed to the online Shonen Jump US on my phone. A few months ago I went back and read through the series start-to-finish and I've liked it.
It's not excessively thought provoking or anything, tome, but I enjoy it mostly since it feels a series that doesn't take itself too seriously. The premise of the world (where literally everything centers on food to the point the most hostile and rewarding areas are called the Gourmet World) is a bit silly, but it at least makes more sense than other series where some facet of society is blown out of proportion, food is important after all.
Wondering what others thought of this series since there wasn't a post for it yet.

I LOVE Toriko I've been following it for a few years, Komatsu is my favorite character. However I'm worried about them becoming too powerful and going all DBZ on us

I'm not too worried about that, mostly because the way Gourmet World is presented you need to be at DBZ level bare minimum for mere survival. Plus, unlike a majority of DBZ, the non-combatants like Komatsu are still very vital to the plot and capable of things the fighting main characters are not.

Thats true I guess, never looked at it like that. I was worried because I don't know how much bigger they can go past slicing mountians

If there's one thing I don't think we need to worry about when it comes to Shimabukuro it's escalating threats. The guy may have no sense of scale, but that only means he's not afraid to go big.

He's gone pretty big already tho. But I agree, he knows what hes doing. HAve any idea what God is? I think it might be an alien food

Very likely, since to my knowledge the entire Gourmet World is an alien substance in and of itself (or is at least theorized as such). God could very well be the heart of it all.

That whole idea is rather odd, like how have they been able to keep the gourmet would out of the human one for so long?

Toriko is great... It's in my top 3 favorite series along with Berserk and One Piece.
