I love this game series- probably my favorite in recent years. Every game introduces a new innovation to the table, Giant figures, interchangeable figures, and now a "Pokémon" like Crystal-toy that allows villains to be captured and then turned "good".
The figures themselves are just beautiful and even would make good display toys. The detail (paint and in-mold) is phenomenal for a $10-$13 toy. I loved the Swap Force gimmick and would love to see it return with more interchangeable pieces in the future, with perhaps vehicles, armor, weapons, etc.
Though people tend to knock it for being kiddish- these games hold pretty high scores, actually. Though it can be repetitive at a few times, the features, unlockables, and other things keep it from being boring, at all.
Personally, this is definitely better than Infinity- cheaper toys/game, more detailed toys, better story, it came first with the idea, etc.
That's just my opinion, so don't spam the topic of arguing which is better, please.
Discuss away.

I was thinking about buying this on Black Friday with the new Pokemon game (buy one game, get one 40% off at Toys R Us). One of the managers was thinking about moving me over to the video game section and apparently Skylanders is the big thing, so I figure the best way to learn more would be to buy it myself. Plus it sounds pretty cool, though a total money-waster with all those traps you need to buy.

Honestly, most video games today have DLC's that need to be paid for anyway, so this can honestly be thought of as a "DLC", but you get something physical out of it, haha.
I believe each trap holds 6 or so villains of the specific type, so you'd only need really a few of each if you're not a completionist.
If I were you, I'd get Swap Force or Giants, too- since it's cheaper/ on clearance or sale at most places and you could get it for a steal if you were to get Trap Team and an older game, as well.
