Marvel has completely outclassed DC in the cinema. DC has The Dark Knight as a critically acclaimed movie, but that's it. Batman Begins was decent and The Dark Knight Rises was rather polarizing. Other than the Nolan movies, everything has stunk. Marvel has had some bad movies too, like Iron Man 2, but the Avengers had lived up to its hype so I believe that Avengers: Age of Ultron will beat Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice both in the box office and in the reviews. Age of Ultron at the very least has a good movie preceding it, which I can't say the same for Dawn of Justice.

Sometimes I think Marvel receives a little too much praise. Yeah, they have definitely made some entertaining and well produced films, however, half of said output has been borderline lackluster. The only efforts I'd really call great are The Avengers, Captain America 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Iron Man. I haven't really liked anything else they've done, except The Incredible Hulk.

I thought Thor was pretty great too though. I don't really get the hype over Guardians of the Galaxy; stopped watching that movie halfway through because it seemed slow-paced and didn't make much sense. Then again, I was watching it with someone and talking right through it, so that might explain my confusion. |
