Since Ne-on made an Anime Analysis Club, I thought that it would make sense to make a Manga Analysis Club as well. I think it should basically be the same with the Anime Analysis Club but with manga instead. IMO, manga are much easier to get through with because you can read them at your own pace, whereas with anime, you're stuck with the ~25 min that is given to you. I would like to note that although this thread basically takes manga suggestions rather than anime ones, I propose that discussions be done at around the same time as the AAC's discussions to make the timing a lot easier for all of us. Perhaps these discussions should be done right after the AAC discussion so that anyone who is a member of both can simply stay on for a bit longer on Skype or something like that. I'm all for suggestions on how to integrate both clubs into this forum successfully. Current Members: Karma typicalmangafan Dataman

Yeah, I'm all for doing both together and members of one can just leave when one ends. It's harder for me to analyze manga, but I'd like to give it a shot!

Since a lot of anime are simply adapted from manga, there can a lot occasions in which people who have just watched the anime can still be part of the discussion. It's different for manga with anime adaptations but with for those that do, it could make planning a lot smoother.

True, but something as seemingly insignificant as animation style or coloring could completely change the direction of the anime discussion & might leave people who have only read the manga confused. For plot discussion & reviews it's great & would be a good idea for starting out, but the more detailed we get, the more important it will be that one has seen the anime for the anime discussion portion.
Madoka Magica might be a little difficult in this respect, so I'm going to advocate something a little easier & more obvious to decipher, like Evangelion, for our first meet. I would also LOVE to discuss Utena early on because that one can be interpreted so many different ways and the short 3-4 episode arcs make it easier to meet every other week.

Except that the Madoka Magica anime is the original material, and came before the manga. Therefore, it doesn't count under anime adaptations. Plus, the anime is the one that got all the praise, so I think people should just watch anime and not think too much about the manga. Also, I still think Madoka Magica should be fine because the MAC shouldn't really kick in until we know that AAC can work. For now, I think we should just stick to anime until we're able to establish a foundation. Until then, just manga-only titles should be looked at by the MAC.
