Originally a manga in Shonen Jump, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is a series about a family that has, across the generations fought supernatural threats and even save the world a time or two.
The first arc, Phantom Blood, features Jonathan Joestar, who must fight against his foster brother Dio Brando after he becomes a vampire.
The second, Battle Tendency, had Jonathan's grandson Joseph Joestar fight primordial beings called the Pillar Men who threaten to enslave the world.
Third is Stardust Crusaders. Joseph teams up with his grandson Jotaro Kujo to save Jotaro's mother from the resurrection of Dio.
From here things get a bit hard to easily explain. Stardust Crusaders is the arc currently being animated and introduces the superpower that becomes iconic to Jojo: Stands. A Stand is a sort of phantom partner that grants their users varying powers ranging from the typical (super speed & precision, travel between reflective surfaces, electricity etc) to the strange (creating and moving through zippers, malignant growths, the ability to damage short term memory). The thing is, the way battles are written these powers can all be equally dangerous.
Jojo is weak in story but really, that's not why you're going to watch/read it. This series is the best kind of ridiculous. So over the top you won't take it seriously. Entertaining enough you won't generally care.

The first three openings of Jojo, featuring Jonathan, Joseph, and Jotaro. one thing I forgot to mention that I like about the series is that each Jojo is a stark contrast to his predecessors. Jonathan aspired to be a good and proper gentleman. He was the most heroic of the team. Joseph is a wisecracking smartass who fought more with his wits than raw power. His best trick was predicting the next thing his opponents were going to say (and almost always right). Jotaro was hot tempered but also very stoic. He rarely reacted strongly to much of what happened and always kept a cool head. The fourth Jojo, Josuke Higashikata, had a hot headed streak but was frequently more sociable and frequently made friends of his various opponents. Giorno Giovana was frequently more cool and collected but also very ruthless when needed. The list goes on. Also, if you know your music, you'll enjoy spotting all sorts of musical references the series has. Just for starters, the second arc's villains are named Santana, Wamuu, Esidisi (say it out loud), and Kars.
