I actually didn't get into it until my freshman year of High School (age 15). It was Spring sports season at my school and didannl and I were taking Squash classes together (If you don't know what squash is, just don't ask). I knew she was a big anime fan at the time and I would tease her about it (meanwhile I was spending my time on KiGo forums & hate-watching bad lesbian-centric TV shows, so I don't really know why I was judging her) Anyway, the class had about 4-5 other people in it besides us & suddenly I, the girl who didn't watch anime, was in the minority as they took up half the class talking about their shows one day. At that point I figured I might as well give it a shot, so I checked out a few shows on realitylapse.com and the rest is history

I watched cartoons growing up, most of them just happened to be anime and I just never stopped watching. I sometimes refer to anime as cartoons which in my head is fine and perfectly normal but on the internet is a declaration of war.

I feel like I'm like of the few people in their late teens/early 20s that didn't grow up watching DBZ. I saw stuff like that on TV from time to time, but I was more of a cartoon fan as a kid. Now I'm more of an anime fan, but I still watch shows like Teen Titans, Kim Possible, Avatar (LoK & TLA), etc.

You probably are! Although I think Dragon Ball Z leans towards a mostly male audience anyway. I think one of the main reasons that so many people around that age watched Dragon Ball Z, at least in the UK growing up is because it was on Cartoon Network like every day after school. At one point you could pretty much at any time watch an episode of DBZ, Yugioh, Pokemon, Beyblade, Digimon, Medabots, Flint TTD or something similar because they were always on TV.

There was a guy at my work who told me about anime at the beginning of this year. I wasnt sure at first but alright, i'm gonna give it a try ! and then i spotted attack on titan. i loved it. i asked him if there was something similar to it and he told me Naruto (lol) but again i give it a shot and i was surprised that i liked too .. and to this day, i just watched more and more anime when i had nothing to do.

For some reason I can watch all 4 seasons of Metal Fight Beyblade, several episodes of Duel Monsters, and all of Crossfight B-Daman, yet I can't sit through 20 minutes of guys screaming and flashes of light. Then again, that probably has to do with my age and lack of exposure to the show as a child. Kids will pretty much watch anything that's on TV, so that's probably the only reason why DBZ was as popular as it was back then.

20 minutes of guys screaming and flashes of light That's a pretty accurate summary of the original season of Yugioh and Beyblade as well though!

I've been watching anime since I was three (hence why I know about Rurouni Kenshin, DBZ, and Yu Yu Hakusho)
