I wasn't a huge fan of Lucky Star or K-ON! myself, but if you like those two, you'd probably like Yuru Yuri as well  Another laid-back, sort of random anime with female main characters and lots of humor I'll check it out when I have time. It's disgustingly realistic and the violence is terribly real for even me (I enjoy Berserk and Claymore). And I was serious: There's no time to feel good in this series. Only one nice character got his guts ripped out after few pages from his introduction. There's random bursts of extreme violence and characters see stuff that doesn't happen really. In the anime, there's something to tell it doesn't really happen, but in manga it just happens and in the next page you just see it did not happen. Like Guts' and Griffith's second dual where they both thought out what'd happen. By extreme I mean this: {Spoiler: Disgusting stuff}
When Kogan-ryu is lightly mocked, one student breaks necks of two people and then eats the eye from one of them and then spits blood in the air. |

Elfen Lied is pretty good, just not as gory as some people say it is...in my opinion, at least. There are worse things *cough*Corpse Party OVAs*cough*

For me the gore comes from: Devilman, Gantz, Corpse Party OVA, Blood C, Elfen Lied, Hellsing OVA, Shigurui, Another, Higurashi, Monster and a few others I've seen.
However...
You guys can't call Elfen Lied the best gore ever, oh haha, you must see this Anime first before you do: Genocyber. Look it up, mates! *eveil smile*

The Corpse Party OVAs & Hellsing Ultimate were the worst for me. The violence in Higurashi was just distasteful in my opinion, since it felt like everyone was killing everyone just for the sake of it.
