Chapter 14 is out and things have started to get exciting! How will Yuzu respond to Mei's decision, especially when she finds out that...
the girl Mei is dating is the girl who convinced her to confess!
For once, I'm actually starting to enjoy this series! And typicalmangafan looks like you might be wrong
I guess I'll start with Yuzu. She actually got me back on her side. She got the courage to confess to Mei, but both times Mei cuts her off. She was trying to get her feelings to reach Mei and Mei would have been the biggest idiot in the world if she didn't notice that. Now, I think it's clear that Mei decided to go out with this new girl because she's trying to deny her feelings for Yuzu, which we know she has. It's most likely that she's trying to use this new as a replacement and hopefully forget about her feelings for Yuzu, which may be because they're sisters now. I mean, why else would she go with a girl who she has barely talked to? Is it because the girl managed to say, "I love you." whereas Yuzu had trouble (but I think would have eventually said it had Mei not cut her off)? Mei isn't going out with her for love, and if she somehow fell in love with the new girl cause she looked pretty and happy saying, "I love you." after everything Mei and Yuzu have been through, then it shows what kind of person Mei really is. Also, does Mei not realize what she's doing to Yuzu? She's hurting her by leading her on only to reject cause of her own insecurities. That's selfish and thoughtless. "Just forget about last night." Really? Yuzu has fought for Mei and did what she could to get Mei out of her shell and to restore her relationship with her father. And then there's the fact that Mei has kissed Yuzu AND tried to prevent Yuzu from seeing the picture of her kissing headphones girl. All this points to is Mei being insecure and trying to use this new girl as a replacement. Yuzu is in emotional turmoil with all this; she's trying to make Mei see how much she actually loves her, and I believe that Mei does see that, because notice how Mei cuts her off, and Yuzu's actions have obviously shown the same.
It's interesting to note that Yuzu said that she wanted to put her emotions into words in order to reach Mei. I think she's already done something better. She's put them into her actions and the past 14 (including this one) chapters have shown that. She's done everything she possibly can to show Mei how she feels. She doesn't HAVE to say, "I love you." She's already SHOWN it to Mei, which as the old saying goes, is worth 1000x as much. Mei is a fool for not acknowledging it. Yes, I get that Mei has a lot of emotional baggage, but that's no excuse to hurt another person. Yuzu has gone through a lot in this manga, and she's had to deal with a lot of Mei's problems. Mei even did stuff like kiss another girl without Yuzu knowing. Just by following the story, I have to ask, why is Yuzu the one who has to chase Mei after everything she's done? Mei has basically forcibly kissed her multiple times, further confusing Yuzu and messing up her emotions.
You know what I want to see? I want to see Mei go after Yuzu for a change. Yuzu has, for 90% of the manga, tried to win the affections of Mei, first as a sister, now as a lover. She's defended Mei's integrity by standing up for her, she's tried to open Mei up to others, she's tried to restore her relationship with her father, and she's basically told Mei that she loved her. Yes, Mei cut her off, but Yuzu was able to say basically everything that built up to that, that she cherished her not as a sister but as a person, and Mei clearly saw the words, "I love you." coming had she given her an extra few seconds. Mei's indecisiveness is emotionally ruining Yuzu, and I'm sick of seeing Mei not realize that. Mei should understand what she has, and that Yuzu isn't going to be there forever if she keeps treating her this way. One day, Yuzu might just move on if Mei doesn't reciprocate, she can't expect Yuzu to be chasing her forever. Doesn't she realize what going out with this new girl will do to Yuzu?
You asked, "How will Yuzu respond to Mei's decision..." Why should Yuzu have to keep responding to everything that Mei does? As I said before, she's practically everything you can expect from a teenager to show her love. Heck, she's done way more than your average teenager when it comes to pursuing love. Why does Yuzu have to be the one to earn Mei's love (technically she has, Mei clearly loves her, but not officially)? Mei's the one who hasn't been proactive in pursuing Yuzu. All she does is be indecisive, and do stupid things like kissing other girls or accepting blackmail even though she should just own up to her mistakes. Mei dodged a bullet when headphones girl deleted that photo of them kissing. As previously stated in the last paragraph, Mei should be the one responding to Yuzu for a change. Mei should realize that she was being selfish and inconsiderate and try her hardest to win back Yuzu's affection, especially if Yuzu has decided that she's had enough. If Mei truly wants to end it with Yuzu (which she has the right of doing, since relationships require the consent of both people), then instead of walking away and leaving Yuzu shocked each time May rejects her when the night before she does something like kiss Yuzu, May should be honest to Yuzu and explain her actions, otherwise Yuzu will remain confused and emotionally damaged. I want to see Mei provide the same amount of effort into winning Yuzu back, because honestly, that's at the least what Yuzu deserves.
You probably noticed that I typed a lot about my thoughts. That's because I feel for Yuzu and I don't like seeing her so hurt so many times. I can't find it exciting or entertaining to see a kind girl who I think has done above and beyond for someone she cherishes to be treated this way and to constantly have go through something that she does not deserve.
