Recently, a new TV series came out named Sonic Boom. It's a series that basically revolves around Sonic and his friends in 15 min stand-alone episodes. Two episodes are released back-to-back every Saturday morning at 6 AM EST. It's focus is on comedy supplemented with action, so you're not going to get your in-depth lots like in the Sonic Adventure games or Sonic X (which had the Sonic Adventure plots integrated into it). Sonic Boom is going to be more like the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog series but I can definitely tell that that it isn't nearly as bad. Four episodes have been released so far and they've been great, with episodes 2 and 3 being the best so far. The Sonic Boom franchise also carries with it Rise of Lyric and Shatter Crystal but those games have been considered to be a disappointment so I recommend that everyone just stick with the TV series. Here's the wiki page on it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_Boom_(TV_series). I also recommend the reviews of it on cobanermani456's YouTube channel. He's done videogame Let's Plays of essentially every Sonic game out there since he's a huge Sonic fan and he's very knowledgeable about the franchise. Here's the link to his first episode review of Sonic Boom episodes 1 and 2 (since two episodes are aired back-to-back, he simply just puts them into one review episode).
I'd also like note that the characters have underwent some redesigns for the Sonic Boom franchise, particularly Knuckles. Although the redesigns have polarized the fanbase, I recommend not letting it distract you from the quality of the episodes. Plus, I actually like the acting in this series. Yes, I know a lot of people want Ryan Drummond back as Sonic, but that's just not possible. I think Roger Craig Smith goes a good job with Sonic and remember that not everyone is perfect. A lot of dry deliveries also fall on the responsibility of the voice director as well, so don't blame RGS too much if there's a dry line delivery here and there. It doesn't excuse him, but that doesn't mean we should call for his dismissal (which won't happen anyway). Plus, there hasn't been too many issues with the voice acting so everything should be fine. Don't forget that the acting in the Sonic Adventure games with Ryan Drummond and the rest of its cast wasn't always the best (although I have heard that Ryan has improved dramatically). Just don't let any bits of nostalgia ruin your experience with this series. With that said, I hope you enjoy it.
