A club for anime fans that are constantly trying to seek a deeper meaning in the shows they watch! Members of this club will discuss mature anime that lends itself to analysis and (once active enough) will plan viewings of certain shows to watch and discuss together every few months. Club Members: Karma Dataman Ken typicalmangafan Zeidoktor Carefree Pineappleparty3 Megane-kun Meeting One: January 3rd 12am Eastern Standard Time- Madoka Magica episodes 1-4 - Chatroom we will be using: us23.chatzy.com/44567299511399 - Timer: www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20150103T0030&p0=411&msg=Anime+Analysis+Club+Meeting&swk=1Club goals: - Meetings on roughly 3 episodes every other week (may be 2, may be 4 at most, depending on how the arcs are split up)
- Voice chat roughly every other month for members who are capable (I don't know about you, but sometimes I just need to talk through what I'm thinking & chat makes that difficult)
- Meetings scheduled before or after MAC for convenience
- Members don't have to commit to every single meeting—just let us know if you can't
- Chat done in a private chatroom
- Would be nice if one person would volunteer to lead a given discussion if they have background on the show so that we have some structure

Can I join?  I could be someone to review really bad anime, like Flame of Recca or Samurai Deeper Kyo.  And also philophical stuff because I like that. |

Aw yeah! First member My thought was that we could assign one anime with a lot of material to analyze/break-down every two months & then get back together and discuss it on this forum or a Skype group. We might need a few more members for that, though lol |

We could try watching shows together, but because of time differences for people, I think it would be better to watch the anime separately and then talk about it later If you can't do Skype, we can always find a way to work with what you do have, Sirius! |

I wouldn't mind joining, but my diligence in watching anime has weakened, even with a 2 month gap. I might skip sessions depending on the anime, especially if it's too long or has content that I don't like. Maybe zeidoktor can join in since I often discuss Skype sessions with him.
I suggest Puella Magi Madoka Magica to start off a discussion with because it's short, many of us have already seen it, and there's A LOT to talk about. |

I'm interested in joining, though I'm not the type to analyze things AS I watch. Still, even if I have nothing on my own I am a frequent visitor to TV Tropes' "Fridge Brilliance" pages, which can likely bring up a topic of discussion or two even if I myself can't.

Do we finish the anime completely before the discussion (assuming that the anime isn't very long)? Or do we simply get to a checkpoint?

I say 2 months for 13 episodes, so if it's 26 episodes, then just get to the halfway point after 2 months. I agree with Madoka Magica for first...maybe Serial Experiments Lain or Evangelion after?
I know I took a few notes on symbolism/overarching themes when I watched Serial Experiments Lain for discussion.
I know I've been super busy lately too, so maybe 3 months depending on the time of year? Would be nice to start something now & then get to discussing over the holiday season though.
